Through the years, the Linly Heflin Unit has awarded numerous scholarships to Alabama women. This year, we will award scholarships for up to four years. Our application will be available online beginning in October and can be accessed from our website. The application and supporting documentation, including transcripts, letters of recommendation, and income verification, must be completed by the listed deadline. Applicants must have significant economic need and sound academic records (such as an ACT score of 23) and must be Alabama residents and U.S. citizens who attend or plan to attend a four-year Alabama college or university for undergraduate studies that is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Linly Heflin Unit was founded in 1919 as a women’s service organization. In our earliest days, we rolled bandages for World War I soldiers, and assisted at Children’s Hospital. Since 1923, our focus has been to further the education of young women in Alabama by funding partial college scholarships for women attending Alabama colleges and universities. To this day we remain 100% volunteer based with no paid staff and extremely low overhead.
