Scholarship Description

The Roy G. Post Foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 450 undergraduate and graduate students from all around the world. The recipients of the Post Foundation scholarships are a group of extremely accomplished and outstanding & driven students who excel both inside and outside of their academic role.

Scholarship Details

  • Provides awards of $5,000 for undergraduate students and $7,500 for graduate students
  • Includes conference registration, hotel accommodations, and travel reimbursement provided by WM Symposia
  • Recipients must attend the entire WM conference to receive the scholarship
  • Recipients are required to present a poster describing their work or research during the conference opening reception
  • Scholarship recipients are recognized during the Next Generation Workforce and Scholarship Awards and Reception
  • Recipients who cannot attend the conference must make arrangements with WM in advance
  • Applications are evaluated based on GPA or equivalent, extracurricular involvement, research activities, personal statement, and letters of reference

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be pursuing a two-year, four-year undergraduate, graduate or accredited alternative education program
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at the time of the upcoming WM conference
  • Must be at least in the third year of study, except for students in two-year or accredited alternative education programs
  • Must be enrolled or accepted into a program related to the nuclear or radioactive waste industries, including fields such as nuclear engineering, radiation protection, environmental science, environmental engineering, accounting, finance, information technology, or other related disciplines
  • Must not have previously received a Roy G. Post Foundation Scholarship

Application Process

  1. Complete the scholarship application before the application deadline
  2. Prepare and submit all required supporting documentation
  3. Include an abstract describing your work or research
  4. Submit two letters of reference from academic or professional sources
  5. Wait for notification, as all applicants are informed of their application status approximately one month after the application deadline

Roy G. Post was the founding chief executive of WM Symposia, the sponsor of the annual international Waste Management Conference. The Foundation is a non-profit organization formed by his students, peers and protégés to provide scholarships to students to develop careers in the safe management of nuclear materials and to participate in the WM Conference.
