Scholarship Description

The Fort Cavazos Family Scholarship Fund aims to remove barriers to higher education and improve the well-being of military families in the Fort Cavazos area. This scholarship program provides financial support to graduating high school seniors and military spouses, empowering them to pursue their educational goals and enhance their quality of life.

Scholarship Details

  • Scholarship awards range from $750 to $5,000.
  • Generous contributions were received from various sources, including on-post organizations such as the Cavazos Community Thrift Shop and Fort Cavazos Spouses’ Club, as well as support from military associations, local businesses, civic organizations, and individual donors.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a graduating senior from an accredited high school or home school program.
  • Must possess a valid US military identification card and be enrolled in DEERS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System).
  • Must have been accepted or expect to be accepted by a college, university, trade, or technical school for the upcoming fall or spring semester.
  • Cannot be the recipient of a full-tuition scholarship, including tuition, room, and board, or have received an appointment to a military service academy.
  • Eligible applicants must fall into one of the following categories:
    • The dependent child of an active duty U.S. military sponsor assigned to Fort Cavazos.
    • The dependent child of an active duty U.S. military sponsor whose last duty assignment was Fort Cavazos and whose applicant resides in Bell, Coryell, Lampasas, McLennan, Travis, or Williamson County while the sponsor is on a non-command sponsored assignment on orders.
    • The dependent child of an active duty retired U.S. military sponsor, and both the sponsor and applicant reside in Bell, Coryell, Lampasas, McLennan, Travis, or Williamson County.
    • The dependent child of a deceased member of the U.S. military forces, and the applicant resides in Bell, Coryell, Lampasas, McLennan, Travis, or Williamson County.
  • Applicants must submit a complete application file, including their GPA, postmarked by the specified deadline. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.

  2. Prepare all required documents, including your high school transcript and proof of acceptance to a college, university, trade, or technical school.
  3. Complete the scholarship application form in its entirety.
  4. Submit your application by the specified deadline. Ensure that it is postmarked in accordance with the deadline requirements.
  5. Applications will be reviewed, and scholarship recipients will be notified of their awards.
