The Homer Fund seeks to truly make a positive impact in our associates’ lives. The Fund recognizes how expensive post-secondary education can be, and decided in 2006 to branch out and seek other ways to show its support of our associates. Thus, the Orange Scholars Scholarship Program was created.
Scholarship Details
- Available to the dependent children of eligible Home Depot associates in the United States, Canada, and Mexico
- Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $2,500
- Supports full-time undergraduate study or attendance at an accredited trade school
- More than 18,000 scholarships totaling nearly $42 million have been awarded since 2006
- Financial need is the primary selection criterion, with academics, leadership, and community involvement also considered
- Application period runs from November 1st through January 20th
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be the legal dependent, as claimed on a federal tax return, of a full-time or part-time hourly associate employed by The Home Depot, The Home Depot Canada, The Home Depot Mexico, or an eligible subsidiary
- The parent or legal guardian must have been employed by The Home Depot for at least one year as of November 1st, and remain employed when scholarships are awarded
- Must be a current high school senior or a current college freshman, sophomore, or junior
- Must plan to enroll full-time in an accredited nonprofit two-year or four-year college, university, or trade school for the fall term
- Students attending for-profit institutions are not eligible
Application Process
- Complete the online Orange Scholars Scholarship application during the application period
- Provide all required academic and financial information
- Submit documentation demonstrating financial need, academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement as requested
- Complete and submit the application before the January 20th deadline
- Monitor communications regarding scholarship selection and award notifications
Orange Scholars offers scholarships to associates' children based on financial need and academic performance, as well as community involvement and leadership. Financial need is given the highest consideration.
