The SDEF Empower Scholarship Program provides renewable undergraduate scholarships to eligible students residing in Fort Bend County, Texas. Applicants are selected based on academic achievement, leadership potential, and community service involvement, along with financial need, where applicable.
Scholarship Details
- Up to $5,000 annually in scholarship funding
- Renewable for up to four years with a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Funds can be used for tuition, fees, room and board, and educational expenses
- Designed to assist students who have overcome hardship
Eligibility Criteria
- Fort Bend County, Texas high school juniors or seniors planning to enroll in college
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrated commitment to community service
- Family income less than $160,000 annually
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Must complete an approved college program within four years
- Must maintain a 3.0 GPA during college for scholarship renewal
Application Process
- Complete and submit the official scholarship application
- Provide a copy of parent’s latest Federal Tax Returns and W-2/1099
- Submit high school transcript
- Complete the FAFSA and submit the Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Submit two recommendation letters
- Provide a copy of a driver’s license or state ID
- Submit a current resume
- Agree to the terms in the Student Agreement section of the application
The program also considers students with unique personal circumstances or those who will be the first in their families to attend college. The scholarship supports full-time undergraduate study at accredited colleges and universities in the United States and may be renewed each year based on continued eligibility.
