The Federal Employee Education & Assistance (FEEA) fund awards scholarships of up to $5,000 to students who are immediate family of, or are themselves, federal employees. College-bound high school seniors and current college students may apply.
Scholarship Details
- Non-renewable, but recipients may apply again after winning
- Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 each
- Taxable and only applicable to tuition and fees
- Parents and grandparents may not apply on behalf of their dependents
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a federal employee for at least 3 years, or have one of the following connections to a federal employee:
- Current dependent (under age 25) of a federal employee
- Spouse of a federal employee
- Grandchild of federal employees in the AFGE or PMA
- Dependent of a BIG member
- Child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a NARFE member (high school seniors only)
- High school senior or current college student
- Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 without rounding up
- Enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in college (federal employee applicants may enroll part-time)
- Demonstrated involvement in community service
Application Process
- Ensure you are eligible for an FEEA scholarship prior to applying
- Use the FEEA's online portal to complete your application
- Prepare and include the following supplemental materials:
- PDF of academic transcripts (unofficial is acceptable)
- Essay (500 word maximum) about career goals
- Numbered lists of community service activities, other extracurriculars, and awards
- Review and submit your completed application in advance of the deadline
- Check your email for confirmation that your application has been received
The FEEA provides a list of federal agencies whose employees are eligible for the scholarship program; find it online on the FEEA's website. Students will be notified of their application status in August.
