The Humane Studies Fellowship (HSF) is a non-residencto assist students enrolled or planning to enroll in full-time PhD programs. Applicants must be enrolled full time in a PhD program at any institution for the upcoming academic year and have a research interest that contributes to the advancement of classical liberal scholarship. Applications are reviewed on a rolling-basis.
Scholarship Details
- Fellowship awards of up to $10,000
- Funds support major research projects, conference presentations, and journal publication efforts
- Recipients gain access to job market resources, events, and other IHS opportunities
- Awardees must submit copies of research completed, presented, submitted, or published during the fellowship
- Applications reviewed on a rolling basis with decisions issued within eight weeks
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a full time PhD student or postdoctoral fellow
- Previous applicants and past awardees may reapply
- Participation in prior IHS programs is encouraged but not required
- Open to students at any university, including international students
- Priority given to applicants from top research institutions
Application Process
- Complete the online fellowship application and submit required materials
- Provide detailed information about the research project and its expected scholarly impact
- Submit documentation as requested, including research updates throughout the fellowship period
- Await notification within eight weeks of submission
