Scholarship Description

The Humane Studies Fellowship (HSF) is a non-residencto assist students enrolled or planning to enroll in full-time PhD programs. Applicants must be enrolled full time in a PhD program at any institution for the upcoming academic year and have a research interest that contributes to the advancement of classical liberal scholarship. Applications are reviewed on a rolling-basis.

Scholarship Details

  • Fellowship awards of up to $10,000
  • Funds support major research projects, conference presentations, and journal publication efforts
  • Recipients gain access to job market resources, events, and other IHS opportunities
  • Awardees must submit copies of research completed, presented, submitted, or published during the fellowship
  • Applications reviewed on a rolling basis with decisions issued within eight weeks

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a full time PhD student or postdoctoral fellow
  • Previous applicants and past awardees may reapply
  • Participation in prior IHS programs is encouraged but not required
  • Open to students at any university, including international students
  • Priority given to applicants from top research institutions

Application Process

  1. Complete the online fellowship application and submit required materials
  2. Provide detailed information about the research project and its expected scholarly impact
  3. Submit documentation as requested, including research updates throughout the fellowship period
  4. Await notification within eight weeks of submission
