  • Scholarship Description
  • MBUSI established the Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Scholarship program to assist Alabama high school seniors and dependent children of MBUSI Team Members who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Half of the scholarships are granted to children of Team Members, the other half to students from high schools in the selected areas. High school seniors from the following areas in Alabama are eligible to apply: Jefferson County and Tuscaloosa County, who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school by the fall term following the application period OR high school seniors who are dependent children of full-time Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. Team Members who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year. $43M in Loans Forgiven for Students of Closed Colleges

The federal government discharged more than $43 million in student loan debt for former students of recently closed for-profit colleges. Students who attended programs operated by Education Corporation of America, Dream Center Education Holdings, Vatterott College and Charlotte School of Law will be able to qualify for a full discharge of their federal loans if they were enrolled when their college closed or withdrew within 120 days of the official closure date and didn’t transfer to another institution, according to Inside Higher Education.
