Eligible candidates for The Dr. Lorraine G. Spranzo Memorial Scholarship will be exemplary graduate students matriculated in an accredited graduate program in a Connecticut college or university, or a Connecticut resident matriculated in an accredited graduate nursing program out of state,or doctoral candidates (PhD, DNP or EdD). Applicants must be matriculated in programs of study accredited by either the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), which includes the National League for Nursing (NLN) and American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). Master’s level candidates enrolled in non-NLNA or non-CCNE programs are not eligible for this scholarship award.PhD and EdD candidates in programs related to nursing practice or education may apply. Only those Master’s level candidates matriculated in NLNAC- or CCNE-accredited graduate programs who have completed at least 12 credits of graduate coursework in that program are eligible for this scholarship. PhD, DNP and EdD candidates who have completed at least 12 credits in their doctoral programs may also apply.
The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain understands that we all benefit from an educated workforce, and our Board of Directors, Scholarship Committee and staff are committed to the continued growth of scholarship funds that help local students pursue their educational goals. The majority of the 55 and growing scholarships we manage are awarded to graduating seniors of local public high schools in the Foundation’s coverage area, which includes Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington. A small number are awarded to graduating seniors from Farmington, Newington and Wethersfield.
