The Danish Sisterhood of America is very proud of its Scholarship and Grants Programs, which are available to members of the Danish Sisterhood and their children, regardless of age. Our scholarships and grants are made possible through generous endowments and memorial funds and are being supplemented by donations from individual members, lodges, and districts of the National Sisterhood. No membership dues are used to support these scholarships.

Scholarship Details

• Up to six scholarships are available
• Each scholarship is valued at $2,500
• Available to eligible undergraduate and graduate students
• The scholarship may be used for study in Denmark upon written request and approval from the Danish Sisterhood Scholarship Chair

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a Danish Sisterhood member or the child of a Danish Sisterhood member
• The applicable Danish Sisterhood membership must have been in good standing for at least one year prior to the application deadline
• Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
• Must be enrolled in or entering an accredited four-year college or university
• Must attend as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student

Application Process

1. Review the Betty Hansen National Scholarship requirements and confirm that the applicable Danish Sisterhood membership meets the one-year requirement.
2. Complete the required scholarship application.
3. Provide the requested academic and enrollment information demonstrating eligibility.
4. Include all additional supporting materials required by the Danish Sisterhood of America.
5. If requesting to use the scholarship for study in Denmark, submit a written request for approval from the Danish Sisterhood Scholarship Chair.
6. Submit the completed application and required materials by the published deadline.

The Betty Hansen National Scholarship helps Danish Sisterhood members and their children continue their education at the undergraduate or graduate level. Eligible full-time students with a GPA of at least 2.5 are encouraged to apply for one of the available $2,500 awards.
