Scholarship Description

The 9/11 Promise Run is dedicated to offering scholarships to deserving children of first responders and military service members who have endured loss or injury, rendering them unable to pursue employment. Our mission is to make a positive impact on the lives of these children and families by providing financial support for their education.

Scholarship Details

  • Supports children of fallen or disabled first responders or military service members
  • Scholarships are for trade school, undergraduate, or graduate education
  • Award covers tuition, room & board, books, equipment, and academic expenses
  • Disbursed directly to accredited institutions
  • Renewable for up to six academic years

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a child of a fallen or certified-disabled first responder or military member
  • Under the age of 25
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent, or be a current high school senior
  • Enrolled in or accepted to an accredited trade school, college, or university
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

Application Process

  1. Submit proof of dependency and proof of parent’s service and/or death or disability certification
  2. Provide high school or college transcript showing GPA
  3. Submit two letters of recommendation from non-family members, one from an educator, employer, or community leader
  4. Write and submit two essays:
    • Essay #1: Reflect on what you’ve learned as a child of a first responder or military member
    • Essay #2: Describe how this scholarship will help you and why you're applying
  5. Submit documentation of enrollment or acceptance at an eligible institution

Applications from qualified individuals will be accepted beginning November 1 each year and will be awarded in the following spring. Applications must be submitted no later than midnight March 15th.
