The North Country Garden Club is pleased to grant annually a one-time scholarship in the memory of member Virginia W. Smith. The $2,500 scholarship is awarded to a local student in the twelfth grade who has maintained satisfactory grades and who has a desire to further his/her interest in horticulture, conservation, environmental, sustainability or green initiatives through college-level study.
Eligibility
- Current high school senior
- Accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college in the coming fall
- Majoring in Environmental or Horticultural or related
- New York resident from Nassau, Queens or Suffolk County
Since its inception, more than thirty Virginia W. Smith Scholarships have been awarded. Deserving high school seniors have received a onetime $2,500 scholarship as they embark on studies at the collegiate level in horticulture, conservation, environmental, sustainability or green initiatives.
A personal interview is required and will be conducted by Zoom on June 8th. The award will be announced by July 1st. The scholarship will be used towards tuition and/or educational support.
