AIA Northeast Illinois is awarding two (2) $3,000 scholarships for the current school year for students majoring in Architecture. Applicants must meet be U.S. citizens who are enrolled for the fall of year the scholarship is awarded at one of the East Central or West Central accredited Architecture schools. Applicants must have a home residence of record within the AIA NEI Chapter boundaries (Chapter boundaries are: Cook, DuPage, Kane, and Kendall Counties, except that the territory shall not include the area within the city limits of Chicago, nor south of Interstate 55, nor east of the Edens Expressway). Applicants are encouraged to verify their eligibility with the AIA NEI Chapter prior to submission. A map of the Chapter boundaries may be found on the Chapter website. Past scholarship recipients are ineligible.
AIA Northeast Illinois expects to award two scholarships of $3,000.00 each for a one-year period to cover tuition, fees, and other school related expenses. Scholarships cannot be used for expenses incurred before the one-year period covered by this scholarship application. Before you email or mail your application to the AIA NEI Chapter Office, be sure to keep a copy of your application in case the original is not received by the chapter. Applications will be acknowledged by email. If you do not receive an email confirmation within one week of submitting your application, call the AIA NEI Chapter Office.
Finalists will be selected for personal interviews with the NEI Scholarship Committee to determine the scholarship recipients. Notification of those selected for interviews is anticipated to be by May 13th. The application along with a discussion of the student’s academic and career goals will be the basis of a 20 minute interview. The interview may be in person or remote as determined by the Scholarship Committee. Finalists are strongly encouraged to bring works/images representative of her/his work to the interview. The Committee intends to schedule interviews the week of May 16, May 23 or May 30, although this may vary based on availability of Committee members.
