Scholarship Description

The EnerGIS Geospatial Scholarship is an exciting opportunity for students engaged in the geospatial sciences. This scholarship aims to support and inspire the next generation of geospatial experts by providing financial assistance to students who are exploring innovative geospatial solutions and methodologies.

Scholarship Details

  • One scholarship of $3,000, with the possibility of a second installment of $3,000 for continuing students.
  • Open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Specifically for students from or attending an institution within the Appalachian Region.
  • This is a multi-year scholarship, subject to continued eligibility.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to full or part-time graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Students must have completed their freshman year and declared a major related to geospatial sciences.
  • Must be a lawful resident or citizen of the United States.
  • From or attending an institution within the Appalachian Region.

Application Process

  1. Submission of an abstract detailing geospatial related work. The abstract should include a statement of the problem, objectives, an overview of materials and methods, a summary of results, and the application or key message of the work.
  2. The work can be derived from coursework, a class project, an internship, or a capstone project.
  3. Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and agree to present their work at the EnerGIS Conference for a potential second installment of the scholarship.

Who Should Apply

Students passionate about geospatial sciences, who are currently enrolled full or part-time in undergraduate or graduate programs within the Appalachian Region, and have completed at least their freshman year. This scholarship is ideal for students who have declared a major in geospatial related fields and are looking to make significant contributions to the discipline through their academic and project work.
