Scholarship Description

Every year, the National Federation of the Blind awards more than $240,000 to blind scholars across the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico in recognition of their achievements and professional aspirations. The NFB of Massachusetts is pleased to announce the availability of scholarships for the coming academic year for students with a severe visual impairment.

Scholarship Details

  • The NFB of Massachusetts is offering scholarships for the upcoming academic year.
  • Three scholarships will be awarded, including one valued at $3,000.00 and two at $1,500.00 each.
  • The application deadline is January 31st.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible as a scholarship applicant, you must:

  • Be legally blind or have a visual impairment necessitating services from a teacher of the visually impaired.
  • Be a resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Plan to pursue a full-time, postsecondary course of study in the upcoming academic year.
  • Not have previously received an NFBMA scholarship more than twice for the same degree.

Application Process

  1. Arrange for three reference letters from professors, counselors, or employers who have worked with you in the past year. Send these letters via email with the subject line "Reference" and your name by January 31st.
  2. Participate in the entire National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts state convention, scheduled in-person from March 15 through March 17th, at the Salem Waterfront Hotel and Suites in Salem, Massachusetts.
  3. Submit your completed scholarship application via email with the subject line "Scholarship" by Wednesday, January 31st.
