The Pep Boys Find Your Drive Scholarship Program will award scholarships to qualified students studying to become professional automotive technicians throughout the United States. Applicants must have a 2.5 minimum high school cumulative GPA or enrolled in an automotive technician program, have a 3.0 minimum GPA in the program. Applicants must submit their most recent official transcript of all academic work and a letter of recommendation from a non-family member. Finally, applicants must submit a typed essay or a video explaining “Why I want to be a top technician.” Include highlights on how you take ownership of your career, solve problems, learn new skills and act as a team player. All submissions should follow these guidelines: Typed essays should be a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 1,000 words, double-spaced. To be eligible for consideration for a scholarship, students must be pursuing an automotive technician degree or certification through a full- or part-time college or trade school program and meet certain academic requirements. Proof of enrollment and GPA will be required to release award disbursements to scholarship recipients. Funds will be paid directly to the school where recipients are enrolled. Scholarship recipients will be eligible for preferred placement in the Pep Boys apprenticeship program and/or a full-time automotive technician position upon graduation.
