Scholarship Description

In support of its mission to promote education and careers in international trade, NCITD has established an annual scholarship for students interested in pursuing a career in international trade. Scholarships (minimum $1,000) will be paid directly to the institution, in the name of the awardee(s).

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate degree related to international trade studies, such as political science, international relations, economics, international business, international law, international finance, etc. at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Undergraduate applicants must have at least "junior" status for the coming academic year at an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in international trade, e.g., education, work, volunteering, publications, or any other extracurricular activities related to international trade.
  • The scholarship program is open to both U.S. and Non-U.S. students enrolled at an accredited U.S. College or University.
  • Applicants must have at least a 3.0 grade point average or equivalent “B” average.

Application Materials

Applicants must complete and submit the following:

  • The NCITD Scholarship Application Form; due by April 26th 11:59pm ET.
  • A copy of your current resume/CV
  • An unofficial copy of their most current transcript from the college or university (please note that the winner(s) will be required to submit an official copy of their transcript to the Scholarship Committee after their award notification); Transcripts are only required for those applicants who have already started their degree programs. As a new student, this would not be applicable.
  • A brief narrative (not to exceed 2,000 words) explaining the career in international trade you intend to pursue, your experience in international trade activities, and your interest in international trade, that supports your consideration for the NCITD Scholarship.
  • Letter(s) of recommendation from an NCITD member, employer or professor (preference will be given to candidates with a letter(s) of recommendation from a sponsoring NCITD member)

Criteria for Selection, in Order of Importance

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in international trade, e.g., education, work, volunteering, publications, or any other extracurricular activities related to international trade
  • Strength of the narrative submission and the description of the applicant’s interest and experience in the international trade field
  • Demonstrated desire to pursue a career in international trade
  • Current academic standing and performance, including honors
  • Recommendation(s) by NCITD member, professor or employer. Preference will be given to candidates sponsored by employees of NCITD member firms

Awardee(s) will also receive a one-year NCITD membership and will be welcome to attend our monthly meetings (if not currently a member).
