  • The EmPOWERED Scholars program awards scholarships to enrolled undergraduate students who volunteer in their communities to use toward their education expenses. Scholars give their time to community-based organizations, student-led organizations and other groups that address food insecurity, safe housing, job opportunities, access to health care and other conditions that can result in health disparities.

    The program is a college scholarship opportunity for undergraduate college students who are working to improve the social determinants of health in their communities through volunteer work, student-led organizations and more. This year, five undergraduate students will each be awarded a $5,000 scholarship, and the scholarship will be dispersed directly to the students to use towards their education expenses. Applicants must also submit a headshot photo, a current transcript (unofficial ones are fine), and a recommendation letter (from a teacher, guidance counselor, mentor, community leader, etc.).

This Scholarship would help me because receiving this scholarship would provide me with the financial support I need to continue pursuing my academic goals. With this scholarship, I will be able to pay for tuition fees, as well as books, and other academic resources without putting an excessive financial burden on my family. This scholarship would enable me to focus solely on my education, allowing me to achieve my full potential. This scholarship would give me the opportunity to achieve my goals of getting a B.S in criminal investigations. I would love to be a Crime Scene Investigator. I am a Senior at Shelton High School, in CT. Due to my mother being a single parent with two kids, I am trying to find every scholarship opportunity possible to try and help cut down on expenses. For the last two years, I have been a honor and high honor student while participating in volunteer groups such as Keystone with the Boys and Girls Club and Youth 2 Youth with the city of Shelton.

I am looking to complete my BS in Criminal Justice to become a Game Warden in Texas. I no longer qualify for grants or student loans, so my next option is to find scholarships so I will be allowed the opportunity to make my home State of Texas a better place. I will apply in July for this Scholarship as I start my journey in January of 2023.

Hello, first and foremost thank you for having the heart to give back. My name is Jimmy Brown. I am an African American Honor student since 2nd grade. My cumulative g.p.a is 3.86. I’m a senior attending Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, CA. My goal is to get a degree is Health Science. I am applying for this scholarship so that my situation of financial hardship to go to college does not prevent me from my heart’s desire to help people as my future career. I’ve played football for 9 years straight and during my life time I’ve seen a lot of unhealthy people and multiple injuries. I want to help people especially upcoming generations and elderly get healthy and live and improve their bodies. I’ve been injured a few times but by Gods grace I recovered. Experience is the best teacher and my goal is to help and educate others so they won’t go through what I went through. Thank you for your time and for considering me.

By being able to obtain this scholarship it will allow me to pursue a degree in agriculture to help earn a degree that will allow me to learn more about the pursuit of farming and teaching. By being able to work and study hard to obtain a degree that can bring everything I learn through the 4 years college back to my farm, classroom and home. Every year there are more and more advances being made to better grow and supply the human population and be able to share my love for agriculture with other students who would love to further there career in agriculture and animal science. being able to receive this scholarship will allow me to further my career in something I love and enjoy without stressing about paying college.
