Applicants of the Robert D. Blue Scholarship must be Iowa residents planning to attend an Iowa college/university during the coming school year. The applicant can be a current high school senior or someone already enrolled in a college/university. Each applicant is scored on their high school GPA, financial need, references, and their 500-word essay in response to the yearly prompt. The applications are evaluated with the following scale: Recommendations: 10%, Academic Performance: 20%, Essay: 25%, Financial Need: 45%. It is recommended that applicants have documents available for verification, such as federal tax returns, as well as awards or grants you will receive from the college financial aid office.
Each applicant must provide the name and address of two individuals, not family members, who are willing to write a letter of recommendation on their behalf. The applicant may submit the letters of recommendation with their paperwork or the individual writing the letter of recommendation may mail the letter.
