Scholarship Description

High school juniors and seniors in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia have the opportunity to participate in the PAVE Essay Contest and Scholarship Program, organized by Partners for Automated Vehicle Education (PAVE), STEER, the District Department of Transportation, and the Maryland Department of Transportation. This contest encourages students to explore the impact of autonomous vehicles on their communities and share their insights through essays.

Scholarship Details

  • Participants can choose from three essay prompts
  • Essays should be 1,000 words or fewer
  • Winners will receive college scholarship funding:
    • First place: $2,500
    • Second place: $1,500
    • Third place: $1,000

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to high school juniors and seniors
  • Must reside in Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia

Application Process

  1. Choose one of the essay prompts provided in the entry form.
  2. Write an essay of 1,000 words or fewer on your chosen prompt.
  3. Complete the entry form, including your essay text.
  4. Submit your entry by 11:59 p.m. ET on March 15th.

This year’s contest is in the Washington D.C. Tri-State Area, but we will expand to other locations for next year.
