SRS Family Foundation is delighted to announce the ninth year of the Banyan College Scholarship for South Asian Americans. To date, 39 students have received the Banyan College Scholarship. These students belong to various South Asian communities in New York City and embody the spirit of the award.
Scholarship Details
- Targeted at: New York City high school seniors
- Grant Amount: $2,000 to $10,000 per year
- Renewable: Yes, based on good academic standing
- Number of Recipients: Up to five students annually
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be of South Asian origin or descent, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
- Applicants must be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Annual family household income below $90,000.
- Two recommendation letters are required.
- Applicants must be applying to full-time undergraduate programs at a U.S. accredited 4-year college or university for the coming fall semester.
Application Process
- Submit your application by the deadline: Friday, March 1.
- Prepare for an interview in April if selected as a finalist.
- Provide additional documents: High school transcript, FAFSA, Student Aid Report, and other relevant materials.
- Award decisions will be announced in May.
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on financial and academic eligibility. Applicants should also demonstrate a commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around them. The selection committee will review applications and contact finalists for an in-person interview in April.
