  • Scholarship Description
  • September is National Rice Month, a time to celebrate the harvest of the small but mighty grain that has captivated Americans’ hearts and stomachs for more than 300 years. Nearly 85 percent of the rice consumed in the United States is grown right here on family farms across six states: Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas. That’s a fun fact that not many people are aware of — and that’s where you come in!

Applicants must create an original, short (3 minutes or less) video about U.S. rice, National Rice Month, and the importance of rice to you, your state, or the world in general. Once you have recorded your video, upload it to YouTube or Vimeo. Complete the entry form and submit your video. Entries must be received by October 31st. After you’ve uploaded your video, share it on your social media. Encourage your friends, family, and teachers to watch and vote for your video. (You can also check out your competition.)

Hello, I'd like to personally thank you for giving back to young minds. My name is Anna Drebes. I am a senior at Highland High School in Ewing, MO. My cumulative g.p.a. is 3.52 on a 4-point scale. I am a part of the National Honors Society, Future Farmers of America (FFA), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Highschool and traveling softball, Student Council, and my family farm. My personal goal is to obtain a bachelor's degree in Agroculteralmanagement and Agroculturalscience and veterinary medicine. I am applying for the scholarship to receive assistance with the financial burdens that come with college. In the near future, my goal is to own my own business so that way I can continue to help other farmers, educate young minds about farming, and care so ill animals. Thank you for your time and for considering me as an applicant.

Hello, first and foremost thank you for having the heart to give back. My name is Jimmy Brown. I am an African American Honor student since 2nd grade. My cumulative g.p.a is 3.86. I’m a senior attending Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, CA. My goal is to get a degree is Health Science. I am applying for this scholarship so that my situation of financial hardship to go to college does not prevent me from my heart’s desire to help people as my future career. I’ve played football for 9 years straight and during my life time I’ve seen a lot of unhealthy people and multiple injuries. I want to help people especially upcoming generations and elderly get healthy and live and improve their bodies. I’ve been injured a few times but by Gods grace I recovered. Experience is the best teacher and my goal is to help and educate others so they won’t go through what I went through. Thank you for your time and for considering me.
