It is our goal to support these students by providing scholarships and mentoring opportunities – anything we can do to help those striving toward their goals. We want to encourage and inspire the young people who are working hard to enter the skilled trades. Many of these students face financial hurdles which might prevent them from attaining a higher level of education – that’s where our scholarship program comes in!

If you are a Virginia resident who is in 11-12th grade, or graduated in the past year, and plan to enter the woodworking, carpentry, or construction management field, create a video (under 4 minutes in length) explaining why you want to pursue a career in the skilled trades, and how education will help you achieve these goals. Application Process: Upload your video to YouTube with the title “Aaron & Co. Millwork Scholarship Program by [insert your name]”. Include a link to this page in the description of your video and email your active YouTube link to us.

Hello, my name is Alejandro Ramirez. I will be attending college to pursue my career dream. My career dream job is gaming programming. Right now, I attend Poston Butte High School. I will be graduating here in 2024, after which I will go to college for computer science and get a degree in game programming. I have loved programming since the 5th grade. I had a math teacher show me a game made in Java. I then went home and tried to program my own game on my family computer, and when my parents saw this, they bought me programming books to build games from scratch. After that, I asked them to put me into a coding class during summer break. From then on, I coded every chance I got. I took extra courses on learning how to code in diffrent coding languages like c# and Python. Because of this, I am fluent in a couple of coding languages. Now I am in Poston Butte High School honors software and app design, and I even help out my fellow classmates when they are struggling. Some of the things I like to do is to add easter eggs in the apps that I create. I am continuing to learn more programming languages, and I hope to code my own game that other people will play. I have a passion for both coding and learning in general. When I go to college, I will continue to create and learn as many things about coding and what I can make with the diffrent coding programs as possible. Thank you for your consideration for this scholarship. I look forward to your response.
