  • Scholarship Description
  • The Hagan Business Machines of Meadville, Inc. Scholarship was created to raise much-needed monies for training in the tooling and machining industry. It is intended to raise awareness of the career opportunities at local industries and encourage students to pursue long-term careers in our area. Applicants must have a high school diploma, reside in Crawford County and have graduated from a school district in Crawford County and be attending or be accepted by a qualified post-secondary training facility in order to apply. The scholarship may be awarded to a recent high school graduate interested in entering the tooling and machining trade or to a candidate in the workforce interested in upgrading skills or changing careers. NC Senator Proposes Taxing of Athletic Scholarships

In response to the NCAA's vote to allow athletes to profit from their names, images and likeness, Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina has proposed taxing those scholarships. Senator Burr tweeted: "If college athletes are going to make money off their likenesses while in school, their scholarships should be treated like income. I'll be introducing legislation that subjects scholarships given to athletes who choose to 'cash in' to income taxes." [...]
