The Acorn Equality Fund offers 6 categories of scholarships to LGBTQ+ students, organizations, and allies in downstate Illinois. Each award is worth up to $4,000.
Scholarship Details
- There are 6 categories of scholarships with different criteria for applicants, including:
- The Acorn and Feeney Scholarships
- The Central Illinois Friends Scholarship
- The Korty & Morton Scholarship
- The Luke Scholarship
- The McKeon Scholarship
- The Weber-Tucker Scholarship
- Applicants may apply to multiple categories, but may only receive one award
- Awards are presented at the Acorn Equality Fund's annual Family Breakfast in December
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility criteria differs depending on the category, but all applicants must:
- Reside in downstate Illinois
- Identify as LGBTQ+ or an ally
- Attend an accredited higher education program
- Category specific criteria include:
- Academics, volunteer service, advocacy (Acorn and Feeney)
- Academics, public health involvement (Central Illinois Friends)
- Volunteer service, advocacy, financial need (Korty & Morton)
- Academics, financial need (Luke)
- Academics, colunteer service, political advocacy (McKeon)
- Academics, social/family hardship (Weber-Tucker)
Application Process
- Choose which award(s) you wish to apply for
- Fill out the corresponding form(s) as provided by the Acorn Equality Fund
- Gather and submit all required documents, which may vary by category
- Submit your completed application in advance of the deadline
The Acorn Equality Fund was founded in 1999 to bring financial support to the LGBTQ+ community of central and downstate Illinois.
