Given annually, the Joel Polsky Prize recognizes outstanding academic contributions to interior design through print or digital communication. This year, the ASID Foundation is seeking submissions focusing on the impact of design on health and wellness. Submissions should address the needs of the public, designers, and students on topics such as, educational research, behavioral science, business practice, design process, theory, or other technical subjects. The number of recipients will vary.
Scholarship Details
- Award amount is $5,000
- Presented annually for outstanding academic contributions to interior design
- Eligible work may be presented through print or digital communication
- Submissions may include books, whitepapers, blogs, videos, and other forms of communication
- Relevant topics may include educational research, behavioral science, business practice, design process, theory, and technical subjects
- The award is supported by the Polsky Fund
- The 2027 application period is expected to run from mid-February through mid-April
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must submit work that represents an academic contribution to the field of interior design
- The submitted work should address topics relevant to the needs of the public, designers, students, or the broader interior design profession
- Applicants must be able to document their leadership role in the submitted publication or visual communication
Application Process
- Prepare a description of the publication or visual communication in no more than 250 words.
- Submit a copy of the publication or visual communication being considered for the award.
- Provide a description of your leadership role in developing or producing the submitted work.
- Obtain and submit a letter of recommendation.
- Prepare a biographical statement and provide a current headshot.
- Complete and submit the application during the 2027 application period.
Types of entries can include, but are not limited to, books, whitepapers, blogs, and videos. Entries will be judged on innovation of subject matter, comprehensive and original coverage of topic, organization, graphic presentation, bibliography, and references.
