The American Fisheries Society is a worldwide organization of professional fishery scientists. Founded in 1870, the society is the world's oldest and largest organization dedicated to strengthening the fisheries profession, advancing fisheries science, and conserving fisheries resources. The mission of the Society and the Idaho Chapter is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by 1) advancing fisheries and aquatic science and 2) promoting the development of fisheries professionals.
The ICAFS Undergraduate Student Scholarship is intended to foster the development of fish and aquatic professionals and is awarded annually to an undergraduate student attending any school in Idaho. This scholarship is funded by the Idaho Chapter. In addition to the application, students must also fill out a letter of recommendation form. Winners will be announced during the business luncheon at the annual meeting of the Idaho Chapter of the American Fisheries Society. The funds associated with this scholarship are distributed immediately, once the scholarship has been awarded.
