Too many college students feel isolated or attacked for questioning progressive orthodoxy and the ever-narrowing range of debate on campus. We introduce them to the American tradition of liberty and to a vibrant community of students and scholars. Our students get an education and a community they don’t find at their universities. And in the process they become articulate voices for the principles that made America free and prosperous. The Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI) offers financial aid.
Each year, ISI grants Richard M. Weaver Fellowships to students who intend to use their advanced degree to teach. The fellowship seeks to uphold the idea of academic excellence and the role of education in producing persons capable of making reasoned choices in favor of liberty. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens who will be enrolled in a full-time graduate program, and be members of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. Those attending pre-professional (medical, law, divinity, business, etc.) programs are ineligible. We provide fellowships of up to $15,000 to outstanding graduate students who intend to teach. Hundreds of alumni of ISI’s graduate-fellowship program now teach in colleges and universities across the country. Former ISI graduate fellows serve as professors, provosts, and even presidents.
