The JCCIA has awarded over $300,000 to students of Italian heritage over the years through various scholarships. In addition, over $200,000 has been awarded to young Italian Americans through Women’s Division at their annual Scholarship and Fashion Show.
Scholarship Details
- Supports undergraduate students majoring in journalism or media communications
- Open to students accepted into or enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education
- Recipients are recognized at the JCCIA Dante and DiFrisco Award Luncheon and must attend to receive the scholarship
- Students must reapply annually for future scholarship consideration
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be at least 50% of Italian ancestry
- Must be an Illinois resident
- Must demonstrate strong academic achievement
- Must have been accepted into or enrolled in an undergraduate degree program majoring in journalism or media communications.
- Must provide proof of admission to or enrollment at an accredited college or university
Application Process
- Complete the JCCIA John Fischetti Scholarship application
- Write and include a 500-word essay
- Submit a recent self-photo
- Provide high school and or college transcripts
- Obtain and submit two letters of recommendation
- Include copies of any published print or digital writing samples
- Combine the application and all required documents into a single PDF file and submit it to JCCIA by the application deadline
The JCCIA offers seven different scholarship initiatives each year, and selects multiple recipients for each scholarship. Needless to say, this important program will continue for years to come!
