The Washington Media Scholars Foundation Media Fellows Scholarship supports students who demonstrate both academic merit and financial need and have academic interests at the intersection of advertising and public policy. This is open to all currently enrolled undergraduates, although juniors and seniors are especially encouraged to apply.

- The scholarship supports students who demonstrate a combination of academic promise and financial assistance
- The Media Fellows Scholarship is a one-time award
- Scholarships are offered twice a year
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have academic interests at the intersection of advertising and public policy or a related field
- Must be enrolled in a qualifying academic program, such as advertising, marketing, communications, business, political science or strategic media
- Students in all class years may apply, except rising freshmen
Application Process
- Prepare a current resume outlining your academic background, activities and relevant experience
- Request one letter of recommendation from a professor, advisor, home university official, mentor or previous employer who can attest to your enthusiasm and ability to pursue a successful career in the media industry
- Ensure the recommendation letter is signed and provided on letterhead
- Write a scholarship essay of no more than 500 words, double-spaced, addressing your academic background, financial need, upcoming coursework and career goals
- In the academic background section, describe your university, expected graduation date, major or minor and relevant activities
- Explain your financial need and how receiving the scholarship would assist you
- Describe the courses you plan to take during the upcoming academic year and how they relate to your career goals
- Explain your professional objectives and how your academic preparation and experience will help you achieve them
- Submit the completed application with your resume, letter of recommendation and scholarship essay
- If selected as a finalist, participate in a phone interview with the Washington Media Scholars Foundation before scholarship distributions are announced
