The NDS Merton Sowerby Junior Merit Scholarship supports undergraduate students who plan to pursue careers related to the dairy industry. This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate leadership skills, academic ability, and an interest in dairy cattle. Recipients will be recognized at the Dairy Shrine Awards Banquet.
Scholarship Details
- One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded
- Additional $1,500 scholarships may be awarded based on the number and quality of applications and available funding
- Students may receive this scholarship only once
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in the third year of a four-year college
- Must be pursuing careers related to dairy production agriculture, manufacturing, marketing, agricultural law, business, communications, veterinary medicine, research, and environmental sciences
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
Application Process
- Review all scholarship requirements before beginning the application
- Obtain one letter of recommendation from a faculty member familiar with your activities and academic achievements
- Submit an official transcript showing all college courses to be reviewed only by the Dairy Shrine Executive Director
- Submit the completed application, letter of recommendation, and official transcript by the deadline at midnight CST
