The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program awards scholarships to students pursuing an eligible training or degree program for a primary care health profession. In return, scholars commit to providing primary care health services in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).
Scholarship Details
- Provides up to four years of scholarship support
- Covers tuition and eligible educational fees
- Includes annual funding for additional educational expenses
- Provides monthly living stipends during school enrollment
- Requires a minimum two-year full-time service commitment in an NHSC-approved HPSA
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national
- Must be enrolled full-time or accepted for enrollment in an eligible program beginning on or before September 30th
- Must attend an accredited school or program in the United States or eligible U.S. territories
- Must pursue an eligible primary care discipline, including:
- Physician
- Dentist
- Nurse practitioner
- Nurse midwife
- Physician assistant
- Must be eligible for federal employment
- Must not have an existing conflicting service obligation
Application Process
- Complete the NHSC Scholarship Program application.
- Provide proof of citizenship or U.S. nationality.
- Submit enrollment or acceptance documentation from an eligible program.
- Verify eligibility for federal employment.
- Submit all required supporting documents before the application deadline.
Students pursuing primary care health professions training may be eligible to apply to the National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program. Awarded scholars serve in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).
