Each year the Santa Rosa chapter of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots awards a scholarship to a local woman pilot. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide funds to be used for a specific rating or certificate in flight training and/or continuing education to further the recipient’s pursuit of a career in aviation.
Scholarship Details
- Award amount is $5,000
- Funds must be used within one year of receiving the scholarship
- Scholarship may be used for academic tuition, technical school fees, or flight training
- Funds are reimbursed based on signed receipts documenting eligible training expenses
- Receipts must include signatures from both the student and instructor, along with applicable logbook copies
- Scholarship funding is intended to support one aviation rating or certificate
- Selection is based on aviation involvement, career goals, recommendations, academic and professional achievements, commitment to aviation and demonstrated financial need
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a woman pilot holding at least a current private pilot license
- Must have a current medical certificate and current flight review
- Must be planning a career in aviation through additional flight training or education
- Must reside within 150 miles of Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, California
- Must meet the eligibility requirements for the rating being pursued before scholarship funds are distributed
- Must be at least 17 years old
- Previous recipients of the Santa Rosa Ninety-Nines aviation scholarship are not eligible
Application Process
- Complete the official scholarship application form in its entirety without changing the format
- Verify that you meet all eligibility requirements before submitting your application
- Prepare the required personal essay and obtain any required recommendations
- Submit your completed application so it is postmarked no later than the application deadline
- Wait for notification from the Santa Rosa Ninety-Nines scholarship committee regarding your application status
The Santa Rosa Ninety-Nines scholarship committee will notify the winning candidate and all the candidates who did not qualify by October 31st. The amount of the scholarship is $5000 and must be used within one year of the date the scholarship is issued.
