The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program, funded by the SC General Assembly since 1999, aims to recruit and develop outstanding high school seniors who aspire to become educators. Each year, up to 230 students are selected based on academic excellence, community service, and a passion for teaching.
Scholarship Details
- Up to $24,000 in total funding ($6,000 per year for four years)
- Up to $5,700 annually for tuition and direct education expenses
- $300 annually for enrichment programs administered by CERRA
Eligibility Criteria
- High school senior in South Carolina
- Demonstrated high academic achievement
- History of community service, school involvement, or work experience
- Strong desire to pursue a teaching career in South Carolina
- Must enroll in a degree program leading to initial teacher certification
Application Process
- Review eligibility and program requirements through the CERRA website
- Complete and submit the online application by the designated deadline
- Provide academic records, references, and documentation of service or work experience
- Participate in interviews or selection activities if invited
- Upon selection, enroll in a Teaching Fellows Institution and begin participation in required programming
All Teaching Fellows awards are contingent upon funding from the SC General Assembly. Fellows agree to teach in a South Carolina public school one year for every year they receive the Fellowship.
