Scholarship Description

The Teachers of Illinois Scholarship Program aims to aid to those who commit to teach in underserved school districts in the state of Illinois. Funds for this program may be used to pay up to the total cost of attendance. This scholarship may be received for a maximum equivalent of four academic years (eight semesters if 12 quarters) of full-time enrollment.

Scholarship Details

  • Requires a teaching commitment in Illinois upon completion

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible non-citizen, or meet RISE Act criteria
  • Must be an Illinois resident
  • Must be a high school graduate or hold a State of Illinois High School Diploma
  • Must have attended an Illinois public school district meeting program criteria
  • Must be enrolled or accepted at an Illinois institution of higher education
  • Must be pursuing a program leading to teacher licensure or an additional teaching endorsement
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Must not be in default on student loans or owe a grant refund

Application Process

  1. Complete the scholarship application.
  2. Submit the Teaching Agreement/Promissory Note.
  3. Complete the FAFSA or Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid.
  4. Ensure all application components are submitted by the priority deadline of February 16, 2026.
  5. Be certified by your college as meeting eligibility requirements.
  6. Accept the scholarship if awarded.

As part of the application process, you must agree to the terms and conditions that are outlined in the application’s Teaching Agreement/Promissory Note. By receiving this scholarship, you must teach in Illinois. If this teaching commitment is not fulfilled, the scholarship turns to a loan, and you must repay the entire amount plus interest.
