Scholarship Description

As part of its commitment to self-determination, cultural preservation, and service to its people, the Hopi Tribe offers a variety of scholarships and grants to support enrolled members pursuing higher education. These awards are designed to assist students at all academic levels, from recent high school graduates to graduate and professional degree candidates.

Scholarship Details

  • BIA Higher Education Grant/Hopi Education Award: For eligible Hopi students pursuing post-secondary and professional degrees
  • Diane Humetewa Scholarship: Competitive, merit-based award focused on Social Justice (Deadline: June 15; requires three letters of recommendation)
  • Peabody Navajo Generating Station Scholarship: Merit-based award for high academic achievement (Deadline: June 15)
  • Hopi Academic Achievement Award: For graduating high school seniors (Deadline: June 15; requires three letters of recommendation)
  • Education Enrichment Award: Supports future educational or career-related activities (Deadline: 30 days prior to activity date)
  • Tuition and Books Award: Available for part-time students or those not eligible for other awards
  • Standardized Testing Fee Award: Covers fees for school entrance or career certification exams

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Must be admitted to a regionally accredited college or university
  • Must complete the FAFSA and apply for all applicable financial aid
  • Must meet the minimum CGPA required for the specific award

Required Documents

  • Completed Hopi Tribe Grants and Scholarship Program (HTGSP) application
  • Hopi Tribe enrollment verification form
  • Official high school transcript or GED scores (one-time submittal)
  • Official transcripts from post-secondary institutions (sealed envelope)
  • Completed Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) form
  • Endorsed program of study/degree plan

Application Process

  1. Review scholarship descriptions and confirm eligibility
  2. Prepare and gather all required documentation
  3. Submit your complete application online or by mail before the quarterly deadline
  4. Quarterly deadlines: April 15, July 15, October 15, and December 15
