The Lincoln-Lane Foundation was established in 1928 by Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Rodgers to enable deserving young men and women in the Norfolk Community to obtain a quality education. Since that time, the Foundation has given over $10,000,000 in grants to deserving students in the Tidewater Area.
Scholarship Details
- Awards range from $500 to $3,000 per year
- Open to eligible high school and college students from the Tidewater area of Virginia.
- Supports attendance at accredited four-year colleges and universities in the United States
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a resident of the Tidewater area of Virginia
- Must be a high school or college student with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of 4.0
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Application Process
- Complete the online scholarship application
- Prepare and submit the required essay as outlined in the application
- Upload a copy of your parent or guardian's prior-year federal 1040 tax return with all applicable schedules, along with your own prior-year tax return if required
- Submit your FAFSA Submission Summary that includes your Student Aid Index as soon as it becomes available
- Arrange for your school to submit an official transcript that includes class rank and SAT or ACT scores if applicable
- Request two letters of recommendation from individuals who know you in an academic setting
- If selected, attend an interview with members of the Board of Directors between January and March
- Wait for the scholarship decision, which will be announced by mid-April
Students whose qualifications and needs meet our guidelines may be asked to come to our offices for an interview with members of our Board of Directors. We conduct interviews between January and March.
