To be eligible for the NCCF Legacy Scholarship, applicants must: have lost a parent or guardian to cancer; be between the ages of 18-35 (an exception will be made if they are 17 and entering college in the fall following application); be a US citizen or permanent resident; and be attending or planning to attend an accredited college, university or vocational institution in pursuit of an associate, bachelor, master’s, doctorate or certificate. Applicants be evaluated based on the following criteria: their journey; their encouragement; financial need; notable accomplishments; and the quality of their recommendations.
All applications must include the following: a complete application form; a copy of the most recent college transcript (if you are an incoming freshman, please submit your acceptance letter or course registration); a resume or list of notable accomplishments; two essays on assigned topics; one letter of recommendation (from a peer such as a friend, significant other or colleague who has been inspired by the applicant’s winning attitude towards their experience with caner); and a signed authorization.
