The New York State Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NYSRAEF) awards scholarships to New York State ProStart students looking to further their culinary and hospitality education at a post secondary level. These scholarships are designed to assist students who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to the restaurant/foodservice industry.
Scholarship Details
- Scholarship amount: $1,000 – $2,500
- Intended for New York State ProStart students pursuing postsecondary education in culinary or hospitality fields
- Scholarship funds must be used toward undergraduate studies at accredited institutions
- Funds are disbursed directly to the educational institution after enrollment verification
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a current or former New York State ProStart student
- Must be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited postsecondary institution for Fall
- Must be pursuing a major in foodservice, culinary arts, hospitality management, or a related field
- Must be enrolled as a full-time or substantial part-time student at the time of disbursement
Application Process
- Complete and sign the full application form
- Prepare and include the following materials:
- Official transcripts
- Letters of recommendation and character reference forms
- Personal essay following the listed content and word count guidelines
- Mail the completed application package to the address listed on the final page of the application
- Ensure the application is postmarked by May 22nd; late submissions will not be accepted
You will need to submit an original essay that answers the following questions: Why do you feel you should receive this scholarship? What are your future goals and how has the ProStart program impacted your those goals? What type of career in the hospitality industry do you plan to pursue? Your response should be at least 500 words but no more than 1,000 words.
