The Robert & Catherine Lagorio Scholarship was established to support students from San Joaquin County pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. Applicants must currently be enrolled in a postsecondary school or veterinary certification program pursuing a veterinary career.
Scholarship Details
- Level 1 awards range from $1,000 to $2,500
- Level 2 awards are $5,000
- Supports students pursuing careers in veterinary medicine
- Open to qualifying students connected to high schools in San Joaquin County
Eligibility Criteria
- Level 1 applicants must be a high school senior or alum of a high school in San Joaquin County and enrolling in or currently attending a postsecondary school or veterinary certificate program
- Level 1 applicants must be pursuing a career as a Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, or related veterinary professional
- Level 1 applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Level 2 applicants must be an alum of a high school in San Joaquin County
- Level 2 applicants must be accepted into or currently attending a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree program
- Level 2 applicants must have a minimum 3.0 postsecondary GPA
- All applicants must provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher
- All applicants must participate in extracurricular activities
- All applicants must submit an essay explaining their interest in becoming a veterinary professional
- Graduated applicants may be required to provide proof of high school diploma or equivalent
Application Process
- Confirm eligibility based on Level 1 or Level 2 criteria
- Prepare a letter of recommendation from a teacher
- Write and complete the required essay describing your interest in a veterinary career
- Gather transcripts and verify your GPA meets the minimum 3.0 requirement
- Submit the completed application and all required materials by April 17th
High School Diploma or equivalent will be requested from applicants who have graduated high school. This scholarship will be awarded to each recipient one time only.
