Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national at the time of application (permanent residents are not eligible)
- Must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent before the start of the grant period
- Creative and performing arts applicants may substitute four years of professional training/experience for a degree
- Must meet the language requirements of the award and demonstrate competency to complete the project
- Applicants may hold a J.D. or M.D. but cannot use the grant for clinical training or patient care
- Preference given to candidates who have not previously held a Fulbright grant and have limited recent experience in the host country
