This year’s naval intelligence essay contest invites applicants to propose a course for naval intelligence to adapt, inform, and shape the Navy and nation. Awards will be given to the top three submissions.
Scholarship Details
- $5,000, $2,500, and $1,500 prizes awarded.
- Winners will be recognized at the Naval Intelligence Professionals' Annual Meeting.
- Essays have the potential to be published in the Proceedings magazine by the U.S. Naval Institute.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to active-duty military, reservists, veterans, and civilians.
- Essay must be:
- No more than 2,500 words
- Absent of author names on title or within body
- Not previously published or in the process of being published elsewhere
Application Process
- Complete essay and display final word count
- Log in to or create an U.S. Naval Institute account
- Submit essay as a Word document prior to the deadline
A panel of judges compiled by the U.S. Naval Institute and Naval Intelligence Professionals will evaluate all entries submitted. Notification of acceptance may take up to six months, and winners will be notified via email.
