The Arkansas Chamber Singers is an auditioned choral ensemble dedicated to enriching the lives of the people of Arkansas by performing and promoting the finest of classical and contemporary choral repertoire. The Chamber Singers are committed to continuing a tradition of excellence, working together to increase cultural understanding and creativity through a variety of compositions and performances.
Scholarship Details
- Founded in 1979 to promote the art of choral singing
- Supports Arkansas students interested in pursuing a future in vocal or choral singing
- Scholarship funds are paid directly to the student upon verification of college enrollment
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a graduating high school senior
- Must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0
- Must plan to major in vocal or choral music at an accredited four-year institution of higher education in Arkansas
- Must be enrolled in the choral music program or curriculum at the high school attended
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application
- Submit two letters of recommendation, including one from a high school choral music teacher and one from another high school teacher or community leader
- Submit an official high school transcript
- Submit a typewritten 300-350 word essay describing your desire to pursue a career in music
- Attend the required interview and audition
- Prepare two selections of contrasting styles from the Classical or Musical Theatre genres for the audition
- Wait for notification from the Arkansas Chamber Singers regarding the scholarship recipient following the audition and interview process
The Arkansas Chamber Singers Vocal/Choral Music Scholarship is established with a mission that will encourage and promote the art of choral music.
