The Blind Service Association Scholarship Program was created to empower and inspire people who are blind or with low vision. Blind Service Chicago (BSC) is committed to creating and advancing an environment of diversity, inclusion, equity, accessibility, and a sense of belonging. Scholarship Details
- Created to support Illinois students
- Supports blind and low-vision students pursuing college, graduate school or vocational education
- Scholarships can be used by students attending accredited colleges, universities and trade schools
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be legally blind
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be a resident of Illinois within Cook, Lake, DuPage, Kane, Will or McHenry County
Application Process
- Confirm that you meet all eligibility requirements for the scholarship
- Prepare the information and documentation required for the scholarship application
- Complete the scholarship application
- Submit your completed application according to the program’s application instructions and deadline
- Monitor scholarship announcements for award decisions, which are made at the Blind Service Association’s Annual Meeting in June
Our Scholarship Program grants up to $40,000 annually to blind and low-vision college, graduate school, and vocational school students. Individual scholarships up to $4,000 are given. Announcement of awards are made at BSC’s Annual Meeting in June. Applications are accepted through April 1 of any given year.
