The Aaron Bernard Murray and Fay Tyler Murray Education Encouragement Award was established by the Murray Family in 1998. It was created to reward students who demonstrate good citizenship and have a record of sound academic achievement. Baton Rouge Magnet High School faculty members can nominate graduating senior students who have shown leadership and initiative to help others within the school and community.
Scholarship Details
- One time award of up to $2,000
- Created to honor leadership, service, and strong academic performance
- Faculty members nominate eligible students for consideration
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a graduating senior at Baton Rouge Magnet High School
- Applicant must be nominated by a teacher or school administrator
- Applicant must enroll full time at an accredited college or university
Application Process
- Be nominated by a Baton Rouge Magnet High School teacher or administrator
- Confirm full time enrollment at an accredited college or university
- Submit any required documentation as directed by the scholarship committee
- Await faculty and committee review for final selection
Applicants must show leadership qualities within and beyond their peer group and must have taken initiatives in school and/or the broader civic life of the community. Only students nominated by a teacher or school administrator are eligible to apply.
