The Christ the Teacher Institute houses Sheil’s principal education and formation programs. Its primary mission is to form Catholic leaders for the Church and the world through the integration of scholarship, prayer, service and leadership. The Institute offers opportunities for learners of all ages to deepen their faith and integrate it into their day-to-day lives.
Scholarship Details
- Stipend of $4,000 distributed over two years for underclassmen participants
- Seniors may apply for a one-year version of the program with a $2,000 stipend
- Program runs for six academic quarters
- Open to incoming and current undergraduate students at Northwestern University
- Applications are due by August 27th
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an undergraduate student at Northwestern University
- Open to first-year students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors
- Demonstrated interest in integrating Catholic faith with academic and personal development
- Must provide both academic and pastoral recommendations

- Submit an Academic Recommendation form
- Submit a Pastoral Recommendation form
- Ensure all documents are submitted by August 27th

The Catholic Scholar's Program at Northwestern offers Catholic undergraduate students an opportunity to integrate their faith as young adults, to be theologically grounded and articulate because they have wrestled with the questions in class and conversation, to grow in spirit and compassion through prayer and service, and to find joy in the rich heritage of Catholic faith. Eligible applicants must maintain a 2.8 GPA. The number of recipients will vary.
