The Reynolda Rotary College Assistance honors the life and legacy of Coach Clarence “Big House” Gaines, Sr. Coach Gaines was a motivator, encourager, and positive life-changing influence in hundreds of young people’s lives in Winston-Salem. The award is given to a graduating high school senior from Forsyth County planning to attend Forsyth Tech or Winston-Salem State University. Applicants must have demonstrated significant financial need. Preference will be given to applicants who attended Cook Elementary School in Winston-Salem.
For students who plan to pursue courses and programs at Forsyth Tech, a scholarship will be awarded for up to two years based on satisfactory academic progress. It is understood that post-graduation intentions may include entering the workforce or transferring into a degree program at WSSU. If planning to apply for admission to WSSU after attending Forsyth Tech, the student must re-apply for the scholarship. For students who plan to pursue courses and programs at Winston-Salem State University, a scholarship will be awarded for up to four years based on satisfactory academic progress. The number of awards each year will vary.
