The Next Generation Scholarship (formerly Legacy) is a renewable $1,000 annual scholarship for first time degree seeking students who are the son or daughter of a parent or court ordered legal guardian who earned a technical certificate, associate, bachelor, or graduate degree from Colorado Mesa University (formerly Mesa State College) or CMU Tech (formerly Western Colorado Community College).
Scholarship Details
- Renewable $1,000 annual scholarship
- Available to in-state, out-of-state, and special tuition classification students (e.g., Western Undergraduate Exchange and Mountains and Plains programs)
Eligibility Criteria
- First-time degree-seeking student
- Parent or legal guardian must have earned a degree or certificate from CMU or CMU Tech
- Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours per semester)
- Degree-seeking with a certificate, associate, or bachelor's program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (high school or college)
- Must be a U.S. citizen, valid permanent resident, or have ASSET status
Application Process
- Complete the initial application to Colorado Mesa University
- Provide accurate information regarding parent or legal guardian’s graduation from CMU or CMU Tech
- Ensure full-time enrollment and degree-seeking status
The Next Generation Scholarship may be stacked on top of any other merit or transfer scholarships offered by Colorado Mesa University. International students and students with previous baccalaureate degrees are NOT eligible for these awards.
