Scholarship Description

The Friends’ Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that they have again selected the County College of Morris (CCM) as their partner through which to award the Benjamin C. Blackburn Scholarship. One or more CCM students, enrolled in the Department of Landscape and Horticulture Technology will be chosen to receive scholarship money totaling up to $3,000.00.

Scholarship Details

  • Scholarship total of up to $3,000, awarded to one or more students
  • Offered through a partnership between the Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum and County College of Morris (CCM)
  • Supports students in the Landscape and Horticulture Technology Department
  • Funded annually through the Friends’ Blackburn Scholarship Event

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be enrolled in the Horticulture or Landscape program at County College of Morris
  • Must be a resident of New Jersey
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Application Process

  1. Confirm eligibility by verifying enrollment in the appropriate CCM program and NJ residency
  2. Ensure you meet the minimum 3.0 GPA requirement
  3. Follow CCM’s internal process to apply for the Blackburn Scholarship through the Department of Landscape and Horticulture Technology
  4. Submit all required application materials as instructed by CCM
  5. Await notification of award from the Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum and CCM

The Blackburn Scholarship was established by the Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum (Friends) in 1979 to honor the memory of the late Dr. Benjamin C. Blackburn, whose professional horticultural expertise and support was of great help to the Arboretum and the Friends during their early years. This scholarship is funded by the Friends’ Blackburn Scholarship Event held in early February.
