Scholarship Description

The ESA Foundation established a scholarship fund to support students from under-served and under-represented groups to inspire future creators in the video game industry.

Scholarship Details

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a woman or a member of an under-represented group
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must be pursuing a degree leading to a career in computer and video game arts and sciences
  • Must be a current high school senior or a college freshman, sophomore, or junior
  • Must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program at an accredited four-year U.S. college or university in the upcoming Fall
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

Application Process

  1. Confirm eligibility based on citizenship, enrollment status, and demographic criteria
  2. Complete the ESA Foundation scholarship application form during the open period
  3. Prepare and submit financial documentation demonstrating need
  4. Provide academic transcripts and enrollment verification from an accredited institution
  5. Submit a personal statement describing your goals and interest in the video game industry
  6. Await notification after the review and selection process concludes

Established in 2007, the ESA Foundation’s Computer and Video Game Arts and Sciences Scholarship has been awarded to more than 450 women and under-represented students across the country, enabling them to follow their dream of earning video game-related degrees. Aside from providing students with funding, the scholarship offers non-monetary opportunities, including networking and mentoring sessions and access to major industry events, like the Game Developers Conference.
